About

I'm Wardie Hellendoorn, a documentary photographer. I studied at the KABK in The Hague and work from Alkmaar.

I photograph places everyone knows and nobody really looks at. The verge along the motorway, busy with life. Office towers in the evening sun. The people on the ferry, halfway across the IJ, who for a few minutes have nowhere to be.

Not what was intended. What happens to it afterwards.

I take that documentary eye into commissions. A portrait or a campaign, it makes no difference: I look for what is there, not for what was meant to be there.
